Selling Your Aircraft
Aircraft Brokerage
Why Utilize The Services of an Aircraft Broker?
The adage “time is money and money is time” beautifully describes the very essence of a good Aircraft Broker’s value
to you. We make it our business to know airplanes, market values and trends, and to represent your interests in an
objective, professional, and non-emotional way. In short, we help you achieve the maximum dollar for your airplane
in the shortest time-frame possible.
Money. Perhaps you’ve heard of deals blowing up in the past because the buyer and seller became too emotionally
involved in the negotiation process? The seller wants the best price for his airplane, and the Buyer is bent on
paying as little as possible-they break the first commandment of business by letting their hearts rule their heads.
Genuine passion leads to argument, which in turn leads to unpleasant word exchanges, and alas, the deal is dust
in the blink of an eye. The best approach is always to secure an independent, third-party Broker from the outset.
This ensures the necessary clarity through objective assessment and negotiation, and gives the best possible
opportunity for a successful outcome.
Time. Even the smoothest of Aircraft transactions requires several weeks of time and mountains of paperwork to
complete. We start the ball rolling by performing an extensive review of your Aircraft and its Logbooks and Maintenance
records. After assessing its current market value, we initiate a massive marketing effort to locate the right buyer
for your Aircraft. Once that Buyer is found and you’ve accepted their Offer To Purchase in writing, we immediately
begin orchestrating the remaining phases of the transaction process, starting with the formal Purchase Agreement
and culminating with the Confirmation of Funds wire-transferred into your Bank Account upon closing. In between,
we guide and assist you with all the necessary paperwork requirements, including the Title Search, Bills of Sale,
Lien Releases, Application for Registration and International Registry concerns. By handling these laborious and
time-consuming tasks for you, we leave you free to devote more of your time and energy to your business and what
you do best-making money!
To summarize with a golf analogy, Aircraft deals are like approach shots from the fairway. Your goal is to drop
the ball onto the green (money), yet the green is always surrounded by traps just waiting to swallow your ball.
In the business of Aircraft sales, there are many traps as well, all waiting to swallow your time and your money.
A good Aircraft Broker, like a good caddy, knows how to help guide you away from the traps, onto the greens, and
into the money!
Acquisitions:
Make It Your Business
If you came home to a letter from the IRS tonight, stating that you’re the target of an audit, you’d make it your
business to locate a qualified CPA or Tax Attorney to handle your case. You’d never consider taking it to a
run-of-the-mill tax preparation service in a department store kiosk- that simply wouldn’t do. So why is it that
when you go to purchase a multi-million dollar airplane, you feel it’s worth the risk of handling alone, without
the benefits and services of a qualified Acquisition broker?
In reality, you might be able to wade through the complexities of such an acquisition, but you’d be taking a huge
gamble in the process. In today’s global marketplace, there is a lot more to finding the right aircraft than
opening up an online classified website and making a few clicks and calls. In fact, a significant number of
the aircraft that we sell in a given year are never publicly advertised! The truth is, many owners of good
aircraft simply don’t want to be bothered with the hassle of fielding phone calls and e-mail inquiries from what
they perceive to be ‘tire kickers’. So they come to us, knowing that we specialize in dealing with prospective
pre-qualified buyers every day. We often find that the some of the nicest aircraft, and the best values, are
not necessarily those aircraft being advertised on the Internet. After placing a deposit on a particular
aircraft, how upset would you be to learn that there was another aircraft available that would have better
suited your needs and budget? Unfortunately, it happens more often than one might think.
Pirandello once said that appearances are often not what they seem, and so it is with aircraft pricing.
Aircraft owners are often unrealistic about the actual current market value of their airplane, and one
of our acquisition services is to negotiate, on your behalf, the best fair-market price possible.
Additionally, we help to ensure the quality and integrity of the airplane being bought. Unforeseen
issues surrounding an aircraft could ultimately be very costly to you in the long run, especially on resale.
So before you go to purchase your next aircraft, make it your business to come to Griffith Aviation.
We’ll find the right aircraft, research its ownership and maintenance history thoroughly, and negotiate
the best possible deal on your behalf. We make it our business to save you time and money. Make it your
business to hire Griffith Aviation to handle your next Aircraft acquisition. Griffith Aviation - connecting
Buyers and Sellers for over 30 years.
Sales:
Location, Location, Location
Griffith Aviation is one of the few remaining Stocking Inventory Dealers left in the United States.
Yes, we do still purchase airplanes! And yes, we do take aircraft in on trade as well! And because of
our geographic location in the center of the United States, it becomes very easy, and inexpensive,
to bring buyers and sellers together.
For example, we recently had the opportunity to serve an aircraft owner in what turned out to be a
very rewarding and successful sale experience for both of us. This gentleman owned a late-model Beechcraft,
and he lived and worked in Mexico City. After having listed it for sale there for over four months with
very little response, he realized that his potential customer base was going to be much larger in the
United States than it was in Mexico. So he arranged to fly the airplane to our hangar facility here
at Tulsa International, and within eight weeks the airplane was sold!
The key to this successful deal was very simple. To coin a real estate term, it was location,
location, location that helped to sell his airplane quickly. Had we attempted to Broker that
particular airplane from afar, the result would not have turned out nearly as well as it did.
So let us put our knowledge, expertise and our location to work for you.

Consultation:
Burning Up Dollars!
Before entering into the acquisition or sale of an aircraft, it is imperative to your success
that you conduct a consultation with a qualified aircraft specialist. And at no time is this statement
truer than in today’s ever-changing aircraft market and economic climate. A professional consultation
and market evaluation provides you with the essential knowledge and power necessary for successful
negotiation over your asset or acquisition. Without it, you are bound to burn up dollars at the closing table!
An airplane is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it on a given day. Unfortunately, many owners
fight this notion, believing instead that their property is worth what they want to get out of it.
But just as a Championship golf course will chew up even the greatest of world-class golfers, so
does the aircraft marketplace always win this battle with owners! For example, if you have a million-dollar
airplane with damage history, how much can or should you deduct as an allowance for that damage? The fact
is, you might think the answer is $50K, while the person purchasing your airplane might believe the correct
figure is $200K. And to others, there is no price whatsoever that will justify that purchase, because of their
assumed risk at resale.
The same idea holds true regarding the time factor. Let’s say that in today’s dicey economy, your airplane
might be worth 10% less than it was just one year ago. Do you hold onto it for another year, hoping that
the cost/benefit ratio will outpace the market fluctuations, or do you cut and run now?
These real-life examples illustrate the value of a good consultation. It allows you to look at your asset
more objectively, and to assess its value against the current supply and demand of the marketplace.
It also takes into consideration past market trends and future market projections. In short, there
are a lot more good reasons to engage in consultation with Griffith Aviation than there are reasons
not to! Perhaps the best one is that money doesn’t grow on trees, and even if it did, you’d never think
of plucking it just to burn it! Make the most of your money- call Griffith Aviation today for a professional
Aircraft consultation.
